The d.a.i.
The German-American Institute Tübingen is a forum for German-American culture exchange. It offers a platform for discussion and information about the social, cultural, political, and economical conditions in both countries. Want our program described in a single sentence? Language courses, lectures, readings, workshops, concerts, theater performances, exhibitions, discussion tables, reading material in the authors' original language, videos and DVDs, USA consultation (High School, Au pair, internships), external study trips for teachers, and much more.

The d.a.i.'s origin: Everything began at a time in which American culture was a rare and highly desired item in Germany - 1952. In this year, the Amerika-Haus Tübingen, currently known as the d.a.i., was founded. Although originally financed by the American government alone, today the d.a.i. is a non-profit organization supported by the Federal State Baden-Württemberg, the Department of State, and the city of Tübingen. We are also supported by the cultural department of the American Embassy (material, advisory) and by our more than 1,300 members.

If you would like to learn more about the history of the d.a.i., you can order our festschrift: Politics and Pop, People and Partnership. 50 Jahre Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Tübingen. at the d.a.i. It offers a short overview of the institute and its work.
