    Internships at the d.a.i.

The German-American Institute Tübingen, a binational institution, regularly looks for interns (from the subjects American Studies, Cultural Studies, Political Science, Education Science, or another related subject) to work with us in our culture and education institution. During your internship, you will work in the following areas in succession: cultural program / public relations, language program, library, trips / camps / projects.

In general, we offer two types of internships:

    • Full-time internship in the semester breaks: mid-February – mid-April or end of August – mid-October
    • Part-time internship (half-time in addition to your studies): mid-April – end of July or mid-October – mid-February

We welcome everyone who is dedicated, talented in organizing things, and has good English proficiency.

Working at the d.a.i. is the perfect opportunity to gain new experience, get insights into professional life, and work independently. You will get to know a lot of friendly people and will have a great chance to further your education, get career orientation, and make new contacts.

What I especially like about my internship at the d.a.i. is that I can work in the cultural program, the language program, and the library and am not in just one area for the entire internship.

I study Interdisciplinary American Studies at the University of Tübingen and wanted to use my internship to get a look at what I might later do professionally. My time at the d.a.i. was very instructive. The team was always ready to help and very nice.

So far I have never experienced an internship that gave me a chance to get to know so many different tasks and areas like at the d.a.i. Tübingen. You have contact with a lot of very open people and learn something new every day.
    Daniel S., Sept. 2014

I really enjoyed my internship at the d.a.i. because here you get a lot of opportunities to learn things, gain experience, and get to know at least a little bit what professional life is like. As an intern, you get to work in different areas and have the chance to take on and carry out your own little projects – but it’s also ok if you make mistakes and learn from them. But what I especially liked was working in a team with interesting, creative staff and interns, and it was this enriching work atmosphere that I enjoyed most.
    Lotta S., Feb. 2011

I really liked the internship because I quickly noticed how important interns were for the work processes. From the very beginning you’re a part of the team and don’t feel like you’re just a visitor.
