A Transatlantic Dialogue: Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Leadership in Higher Education

Panel discussion with Dr. Courtney Dorroll, ACE fellow, Wofford Collage and Janet Ward, ACE fellow.

Leadership in higher education takes different forms and addresses an array of stakeholders – students, academics, alumni, university management, administrators, third-party funders, governmental institutions etc., and presents itself as a diverse and growing field of inner- and interinstitutional careers. The panel discussion on “Leadership in Higher Education” will convene cross-cultural perspectives on higher education leadership and focus on challenges and opportunities facing leaders in both the United States and Germany.

The panel will feature researchers, Tübingen University research alumni, as well as practitioners, who will share their experiences and insights on topics such as governance, diversity and inclusion, innovation, and internationalization.

The American researchers joining the discussion are all “American Council on Education” (ACE) fellows, visiting the University of Tübingen for a week. ACE fellows are a select group of researchers chosen to participate in a year-long fellowship program focused on leadership development and institutional change in the academy.

The event aims to provide a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas on best practices, with the goal of fostering collaboration between institutions and leaders from both regions.
