Rising out of Hatred is a biography that tells the very personal story of former white supremacist Derek Black. Being the son of the founder of Stormfront, a large white supremacist online community, Black was raised with intensely racist and anti-Semitic beliefs. Only when attending a liberal college, he began to question everything he ever believed in.

Further dates and books:

Fr. 9.10.: Born to Run is the passionate autobiography of rock ’n’ roll legend Bruce Springsteen. This disarmingly charming and poetically written account of Springsteen’s life gives insight into his early days, as well as the trials and tribulations behind many of his most loved hits.

Fr. 13.11.: Nemesis is a gripping story, which explores the subjects of fear, suffering, pain, and guilt. Amidst a life-threatening polio epidemic in a Jewish neighborhood in Newark in 1944 and a seemingly safe children’s summer camp, the playground director Bucky Cantor grapples with the worry and guilt he feels towards the neighborhood’s children.

Fr. 11.12.: Olive, Again is the sharp-witted sequel to Elisabeth Strout’s acclaimed novel “Olive Kitteridge”, in which the reader gets to follow their favorite character through another batch of fun, observant, and thoughtful short stories. The iconic Olive continues to startle us, to inspire us, and to remind us what it means to be human.
