  • Law 4.0: Technology, Freedom, and the Rewiring of Society

    Donnerstag, 23.07.2020 - 19:15 Uhr

Talk by Esther Tabitha Earbin, J.D., Freiburg.Alexa, what is happening?!”… With smart devices, artificial intelligence (A.I.), and the Internet of Things (IoT), our lives heavily depend on technology. We rely on the Internet for news, translations, and cat memes. Our world has been redesigned. Whether we like it or not, our basic needs can be redirected to a website. As a result, our dependency on the Internet creates new challenges for law and society. So, what do we do? This talk explores law, freedom, and safety in the digital age. Through examples and illustrations, we will focus on understanding and navigating this new digital world.

Esther Tabitha Earbin, J.D. is a lawyer, designer and lecturer from Indianapolis, Indiana. She has lectured internationally on issues of law, media, and American culture. She currently lives in Freiburg where she is finishing her doctoral studies with the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law.
