Tom Drury will read from his Grouse County trilogy, which will be published in August 2017 by Klett-Cotta. Concerning the denizens of a fictional county in the American Midwest, the trilogy consists of The End of Vandalism (1994), which was hailed in 2012 as “the best comic novel about democracy of the last quarter-century” (Boston Globe); Hunts in Dreams (2000), a New York Times Notable Book; and Pacific (2013), which was longlisted for the National Book Award. Originally from the American Midwest and currently living in Berlin, Tom Drury is the author of five novels, two screenplays, and numerous short stories. He has been called “a major figure in American literature” (New York Times Book Review) and “the greatest writer you‘ve never heard of” (The Independent). In the summer of 2017 Tom Drury will serve as Picador Guest Professor for Literature at Leipzig University’s Institute for American Studies.
