Teacher Training with Dr. Markus Hünemörder, Ludwig-MaximilianUniversität München In 2016, Donald Trump upset expectations and won the presidency by a narrow margin. He is easily the most controversial president in recent memory, running on an anti-establishment, right-wing populist platform and harsh rhetoric against minorities. After two years in the White House, how much of his radical campaign rhetoric did he manage to turn into actual policy? How did the voters react in the 2018 congressional midterm elections? Which challenges does the president face in terms of congressional politics, the economy, foreign policy and a deeply divided American society? This workshop will address these and other issues and also provide comic relief through caricatures and satirical videos.
