  • Building Back Better? Biden’s Pursuit of Unity

    Montag, 19.07.2021 - 19:15 Uhr

Talk with Prof. Joyce Mushaben, University of Missouri-St. Louis. The first six months of the Biden administration have witnessed a number of sweeping policy initiatives. Although his initial successes have generated significant popular support, the United States remain a deeply divided nation. Congressional re-apportionment based on the 2020 Census provides the President with a very small window of opportunity for implementing his grand plans, as much as they could serve to pull the nation back together again. This talk evaluates the "transformational" dimensions of Biden's policies to date, and the institutional perils that lie ahead.

Joyce Mushaben is Professor of Comparative Politics and Gender Policies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, USA. She specializes in European and German politics and concentrates especially on questions of identity, gender, ethnicity, and migration.
