Talk with Matt Kellogg, M.A., Konstanz
20 years ago, the September 11 attacks sparked the American-led invasion of Afghanistan. On August 30 2021, the last U.S. soldier withdrew from the country, ending American military presence amid the rapid collapse of the Afghan government and security forces. Images of Afghans attempting to flee the country were viewed around the world, causing many to ask, “how did it come to this?” This talk by Matt Kellogg will examine the course of events of the past two decades and attempt to examine some of the factors that led to the tumultuos events of the last two weeks.
Matt Kellogg holds a Master’s degree in Politics and Public Administration with a background in International Administration and Conflict Management and has taught at the d.a.i. in the past. Like many Americans, he carries personal connections to the events of September 11th and the war in Afghanistan. He currently works in the public sector supporting German communities in their efforts to implement the UN’s Agenda 2030.
