Native American Protest Music by U.S.-American Singer-Songwriter: Raye Zaragoza
Raye Zaragoza is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and performer whose multinational heritage (Native American (O‘odham), Mexican, Taiwanese and Japanese) deeply influences her music. Her standout protest anthem „In the River“, a response to the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL), was awarded an Honesty Oscar for Best Activism Anthem. She will be accompanied by musician Kholan Studi. We will also screen the short film „Defend the Sacred“, a documentary about the indigenous peoples‘ protests at Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota.
