Access

About the Project

Access is funded by the US Embassy in Berlin.

Project term: 2016 to 2018

With our “English Access Microscholarship Program” (Access), for two years we assist students from vocational schools and open up prospects for education, careers, and society. In weekly lessons, workshops, and excursions, 14 scholarship recipients not only gain language skills but also more self-confidence. They improve their media and intercultural skills and are involved in social projects. The students are between 16 and 18 years old and come from various vocational schools.

More information

Access is a program by the U.S. Department of State (Bureau for Educational and Cultural Affairs) that has existed since 2004. Across the world, it helps young people get to know the English language and American culture. So far, over 110,000 scholarship recipients between the ages of 13 and 20 have participated in more than 85 countries. In Germany, the program is being offered for the first time at the d.a.i. Tübingen and is co-funded by the U.S. Embassy in Berlin. Besides the d.a.i. Tübingen, the Amerika Zentrum Hamburg and the d.a.i. Heidelberg also received grants. The program is completely free of charge for the participants.
