Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) were founded after the American Civil War to provide educational opportunities for African Americans, who were prohibited to attend white institutions. There are 101 HBCUs in 19 states today offering a wide array of study programs to students of all races and ethnicities. In this session, you will learn about the history and the role that HBCUs play in higher education to this day.
