Prof. Damian Radcliffe, Univ. of Oregon (Eugene): Journalism and the Media in the Age of Trump

Donald Trump is a different kind of politician. His candidacy and electoral victory have challenged journalistic orthodoxy and have drawn new battle lines between the White House and the mainstream media. How did we get here? How has Trump’s first year changed the conversation and how should the media respond? This talk will explore these important, rapidly evolving questions.

Damian Radcliffe is a journalist, researcher, analyst and teacher based at the University of Oregon in the United States, where he is a Professor of Practice and holds the Chambers Chair in Journalism. His research interests are focused on digital trends and technology, and their impact on media consumption, content creation and media business models. He is particularly interested in local journalism, social media and the innovation in journalistic practice, as well as the impact of technology on society in the Middle East (where he lived from 2012-14).

Radcliffe has over two decades experience working in the media and communications industries. He has held editorial, strategic and research roles in the UK, Middle East and the USA. The impact and potential of digital tools and technologies have been at the heart of his work. Find out more: www.damianradcliffe.com / www.twitter.com/damianradcliffe
